Harmony Baptist Church

Harmony Baptist Church was founded in June of 1984 and began regularly meeting in Alton, IL with  Dr. Howard Carter leading as pastor of the church.  Since its inception, Harmony Baptist Church has strived to adhere to the fundamental characteristics observed in the churches of Christ as is exposed in the Holy scriptures, despite the trends of the day to appeal to a wider audience at the cost of compromising God’s truth.

At Harmony Baptist  Church, we look to the Holy Scriptures delivered from God unto man for instruction on what  Christ expects from His churches, as He is the head of the Church.  This has long since been the objective of HBC since it’s beginning in 1984.

In 1996, HBC moved to a new location in Godfrey, IL after uniting with the members of Clifton Baptist Church.  Following the retirement of Pastor Howard Carter in 2003, the church elected Ralph Blake as Head Pastor, who currently resides as shepherd of the church .

Pastor Blake spent over 13 years in country of Surname, South America planting a work that organized into Grace Baptist Church, which developed into a self-supporting, indigenous church that continues to grow and thrive to this day.

Now having 25 years of tenure in the ministry, Pastor Blake brings his experience to Godfrey, Illinois as God has burdened him to reach the lost of the community and continue to help build up the existing members in the truth of God’s word.

At Harmony, we believe in evangelism, as evidenced by the bulk mailing outreach and missionary support.  Specifically, HBC supports 15 Missionaries spanning 9 countries throughout the world.

Though churches may  be found on nearly every corner in cities throughout the United States, we believe there is still a great deficiency of God’s truth in our nation and community, as modern preaching often waters down and distorts the scriptures, leaving multitudes filling church buildings while remaining in a lost condition.

The truth and wisdom contained in God’s word is not new, yet it is speaks to each generation as men have not changed in their underlying characteristics and needs.  Pastor Blake exposes the Word of God to the congregation in a very clear and straightforward manner each service, and we invite you to meet with us while we carry out the will of God as members of His church.
